1619(a) and 1619(b)

1619(a) allows SSI recipients to continue receiving SSI cash payments even when earnings exceed the SGA level ($1,000/month for non-blind and $1,640/month for blind - 2011). As earnings increase, SSI cash payments decrease until earnings completely replace cash benefits; there is no effect on Medicaid coverage.

Medicaid Insurance for Workers with Disabilities (MIWD)

Medicaid Insurance for Workers with Disabilities (MIWD), referred to by some as Nebraska's Medicaid Buy-In, is intended to allow people with disabilities who are competitively employed and who, because of wages would lose their benefits, to purchase Medicaid like private insurance.

Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)

Since Medicare, Medicaid and other types of health insurance can be confusing; the State of Nebraska has developed a program to educate older Nebraskans and people with disabilities about their health insurance. This program is known as the Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program, or SHIIP.

ACCESSNebraska

ACCESSNebraska is the quick, easy way to find, apply and update Nebraska public assistance benefits. Now there is no need to come to our office or wait in line. You can log on for many Nebraska public assistance benefit programs.

DHHS Customer Service Centers

The four Customer Service Centers are an important component of ACCESSNebraska. They’re a more efficient way to process and approve requests for economic assistance services. They use a “universal case management” system where clients call an 800 number instead of having an assigned caseworker. People will continue to have the option of going to a local office in person for assistance.

Remote Pharmaceutical Assistance Program

In response to the identified community need for healthcare professionals in rural areas, The Nebraska Medical Center developed the Remote Pharmaceutical Assistance Program. The service allows for patients being treated at rural and critical access hospitals to have access to the same level of pharmaceutical expertise and care available to patients at The Nebraska Medical Center via telephone and the Internet.

Partnership for Prescription Assistance

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance helps qualifying patients without prescription drug coverage get the medicines they need through the program that is right for them. Many will get their medications free or nearly free.
